ab's es, n. A collection of pus or purulent matter in an accidental cavity of the body. [L. abs, away, and cedere, ce um, to go.] Abscind, ab-sind', To cut off. [L. ab and scindere, sci um, to rend, cut.]—Absci ion, -sizh'un, n. A cutting off. (Rhet.) A figure of speech, by which the speaker stops abruptly, as supposing the matter sufficiently understood.
