A word used only by Shakspere in the pa age cited, in the folio of 1623, where the quarto editions have battero and bat; it is, like battero, apparently a misprint for batt on, battoon, or battoun, a stick, cudgel. Ballow be the harder. to "cast the ballot" when for convenience the actual proce , as required by rule, is dispensed with.
