pl. [NL. (M'Clelland, 1838), Sar cobra chi at a (sär-kō-brak-i-a'tä), n. pl. Same as Sarcicobrachiata . sarcocarp (sär'kō-kärp), n. [ Sarcocephaleæ (särkō-se-fāʻlē-ē), n. pl. [NL. (A. P. de Candolle, 1830), Sarcocephalus (sar-kō-sef'a-lus), n. [NL. (A. Afzelius, 1824), so called in allusion to the fleshy ma formed by both flowers and fruit; IMG:content-0124.png:[blocks in formation] in Asia, Africa, and Australia. They are shrubs and trees, or sometimes climbers, with opposite rigid leaves, conspicuous triangular or obovate stipules between the pet i. oles, and white or yellow terminal and axillary or sometimes panicled flower-heads. The fruit is a fleshy syn carp containing thin membranous partitions, with a few minute seeds in each carpel. (For S. esculent us, also known as country - fig, see Guinea peach, under peach1.)
