Commi ion merchant or agent for the sale of goods consigned to him. One residing in a different country from that of his principal is often liable as principal to third parties; he has a lien on the goods to the extent of his advances and charges, and may pledge them for the lien; his commi ions on particular goods are not earned until his services are finished, and are forfeited by gro negligence.
