genus of §. Amer. palms. Bahia pia ava is obtained from A. ‘unifera, the hard bony fruits being own as ‘coquilla’ nuts, used in turnery. A. cohune yields the cohune nuts of commerce; species of Brazil ‘gives baba u nuts (both contain 70 per cent. edible fat).
