Festus

Porcius, pro-Consul and Governor of Judea, before whom St. Paul was accused by the Jews; but the apostle appealing to the emperor, Festus sent him to Rome. Also, a celebrated Latin grammarian who lived between the 2d and 4th centuries. He compiled some voluminous works on his favorite science, and is cla ed by Sealiger among the best or most useful etymologists for understanding the language of ancient Rome.
