A large flat-bottomed ve el, with three masts, and a short bowsprit placed on the starboard bow, used by the Chinese. The masts are supported by two or three ehrouds, which at times are all carried on the windward side; and the fore or main mast carries a sort of lug-sail of cane or bamboo. [s. 640]
