Nevin, John Williams on

Pa., 1803-1886. Cousin of A. Nevin, supra. An eminent German Reformed clergyman of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, president of Franklin and Marshall College, 1866-76. Prior to his presidency he had been active as a theologian at Mercers burgh, and his works form the basis of what is styled the “Mercers burgh Theology.” Among his writings are, History and Genesis of the Heidelberg Catechism; The Mystical Presence; Anti-Christ; The Anxious Bench; Biblical Antiquities.
