[DIALOGITE.] di-al-ll, s. [Pref. di =twice, twofold, and Eng. allyl (q. v.).1 Chem.: C6H10, or H2C=CH-CH2-CH2CH=CH2. A hydrocarbon obtained by the action of sodium on allyl iodide, H2C=CH-CH2I, and by distilling allyl mercuric-iodide, C3H5HgI, with pota ium cyanide, KCN. Diallyl is a pungent ethereal liquid, boiling at 59°. It unites with bromine, forming a crystalline tetra bromide, C6H10Br4, which melts at 63°. diallyl-carbinol, s. Chem.: (C3H5)2CH(OH). A monatomic alcohol obtained by the action of zinc on a mixture of allyl iodide. C3H5I, and ethyl formate, H.CO・OC H5. The crude product consists of diallyl and diallylcarbinol and a high-boiling product. Diallyl-carbinol boils at 151", unites with bromine, forming a tetra bromide. Pent a chloride of phosphorus, PC15, forms a combination known as mono-chlor-heptine, C7H11Cl, or (C3H) 5) 2 CH C, which boils at 140°, being partly converted into heptone, C7H10, which boils at 115°. diallyl-urea, s. Chem.: Diallyl-carbamide, sin apo line, C7H12N2O, от No2. (CO)". (C3H5) 2H2. Obtained by the action of oxide of lead on sulpho-cyanate of allyl (oil of mustard). C3H5 CNS, or by heating cyanate of allyl, C3H5CNO, with water. It crystallizes in shining lamine, which melt at 100°, and is soluble in alcohol and ether. The aqueous solution is alkaline to test paper.
