Avianus, FLAVIUS

ab. 400. Author of Latin fables. Avicenna, 980-1037. Arabian philosopher and physician of Bokhara, famous in the Middle Ages. He served in the courts of different Emirs, and was at one time Vizier. Aristotle and Galen were largely introduced to the scholastic philosophy and early Italian schools of medicine through him. Many editions of his works, especially of his Canon of Medicine , have been published.
