A slender, cylindric instrument made of waxed silk, catgut, etc., for introduction into the urethra or other pa age, for the purpose of dilatation, exploration, etc. B. a boule. See B., Bulbous. B., Armed, a bougie with a piece of silver nitrate or other caustic attached to its extremity. B., Bulbous, a bougie with a bulbous tip.
