[English gun, and smith.] One whose trade or occupation is to make or repair fire arms. with the "It [walnut] is of singular account gunsmith for stocks." -Evelyn : On Forest Trees , ch. vii., § 4. gun-smith-er-ỹ, s. [Eng. gunsmith; -ery.] The made thereof is used to carry grain, ., and for inclosing articles for exportation-rice, saltpeter, pepper, coffee. The bags made from this material are known as gunnybags or gunnysacks.
