[For * therl, a transposed form of thrill2, threl, a var. of thrall, v.] To thrall, bind, ind, or subject; especially, to bind or astrict by the terms of a lease or otherwise: as, lands thirled to a particular mill. See thirlage. [Scotch.] The inhabitants of the village and barony of Kinro were not more effectually thirled (which may be translated enthralled) to the baron's mill than they were to the medical monopoly of the chamberlain.
