potentiate (ti as shi)

[Gr. poterion =a drinking cup, and krinon a lilly.] Palcont .: The type-genus of the family Poteriocrinide. Calyx as in Cyathocrinus, but with the upper surface convex, with a very large anal tube. The genus (with several sub-genera) commences in the Silurian, is present in the Devonian, and abounds in the Carboniferous period, after which it disappears.
