Camouflet

( Fr. ). A small mine containing about 10 pounds of powder, sufficient to compre the earth all around it without disturbing the surface of the ground. It is sometimes formed in the wall or side of an enemy’s gallery, to blow in the earth and cut off the retreat of the miner.
