HAYDON, BENJAMIN ROBERT

(1786-1846), Eng. his. painter; b. at Plymouth; studied at Royal Academy. Quarrels with the Academy and debt troubles made his life a burden, and he committed suicide. His best pictures are The Judgment of Solomon, (1814), Christ’s Entry into Jerusalem, and The Resurrection of Lazarus.
