Foscolo, UGo

1778-1827. Italian poet, noted for his tragedies: Thyestes, 1797; Ajax, and Ricciarda; an epic, I. Sepoleri, 1807; and a political romance, Letters of Jacopo Ortis, 1802. He settled in England 1815, and wrote e ays on Petrarch, 1821, and Dante, 1826.
