[English lauro ( ne ), and ( stear ) in.] Chem.: C39H7406, laurate of glyceryl. A fatty body found in the berries of the sweet bay-tree, Laurus nobilis , in cocoa-nut oil, and in pichurim beans. It crystallizes in white needles, having a silky luster, insoluble in water and cold alcohol, slightly soluble in boiling alcohol, but very soluble in ether. It melts at 44°, and by dry distillation [Eng. lauro(ne), and yields acrolein. lâu-rō-ste-ar-ōne, s . stear one .] [LAURONE.] lâu-rox-l-Ic, a.
