FUSEL OIL

(Yunanca köken — orijinale bakınız.) An oil contained in corn-spirit and potato-spirit, and which gives to those liquors a disagreeable taste and smell. When purified it constitutes the amylic alcohol, or hydrate of oxide of amyle, of modem chemists; its formula is Cio Hn O+H O. [s. 1385]
