[Lat. arktion = a plant, the Verbascum ferrugineum (?), or a Lappa; Gr. ἄρκτιον ( arktion ), from ἄρκτος ( arktos ) = a bear; in Celt. arth, after which the Arctium is called, on account of its shaggy involucres.] Burdock. A genus of plants belonging to the order Asteraceæ, or Composites.
