Bulbs

Buds with fleshy scales. They are generally subterranean, but occur occasionally in the axils of leaves, as in certain Lilies, and are then sometimes called Bulblets or Bulbils. Bulbus. Enlarged base of the stipe of certain toadstools. Bulbus Arteriosus, or BULBUS AORTE. Synangium of the frog's heart; part of the aorta next the heart. In fishes it is often contractile, like the ventricle.
