—an ecclesiastical vestment of the Roman Catholic church worn by the pope, patriarchs and archbishops; it is a band of white woolen webbing, about 3 inches wide, embroidered with black cro es worn around the neck, and from which two narrow bands of same material depend, one falling on the breast and the other over the back.
