Colocasia

(kõl-o-kā'zhah.) (Bot.) A gen. of plants, O. Araceæ, consisting of tropical herbs, with tuberous or stem like root-stocks, and peltate leaves. C. anti quorum is cultivated in most tropical countries for the sake of its leaves, which are eaten as spinach. C. indica is cultivated in Brazil for its esculent and small pendulous tubers. [s. 206]
