Zool .: Mu els; a family of Conchiferous Mollusks division Asiphonida; shell, ova i and equivalve; edges closely fitting, ligament internal, hinge edentulous. The Mytilidæ are mostly and attached by a by us. Chief genera, Mytilus, Modiolus, Litho dom us, and Drei ena. 2. Palæont.: The family is Palæozoic, some members being from the Lower Silurian, others from the Coal Measures and the Permian.
