Carroll, Henry King

LL.D. (Syracuse University, N.Y., 1885), Methodist layman; b. at Dennisville, N.J., Nov. 15,1847; was self-taught became editor of The Havre Republican, Maryland, 1868; a istant editor of The Methodist, New York, 1869; of The Hearth and Home, New York, 1870; night agent of the New-York A ociated Pre , 1871; special correspondent of the Boston (Ma .) Traveller, 1873; religious editor of the New- York Independent, 1876. He was a delegate from the Methodist-Episcopal Church to the (Ecumenical Methodist Conference in London, 1881; organizing secretary of the Methodist Cen 265 tennial Conference, 1884. He was the chief editor of the Proceedings of the Centennial Methodist Conference, New York, 1885; is the author of the pamphlets, World of Mi ions, New York, 1882; Catholic Dogma of Church Authority, New York, 1884; and is a frequent contributor to the Methodist Quarterly Review, New York.
