Garde

Eco aise, or Scottish Archers of THE GUARD, was instituted in 1453, in recognition of the great services rendered to France by the Scottish soldiers in the Hundred Years’ War. {(See Scott’s Quentin Durward.) In later times there was also a Swi Guard.
