(hwēl'ing,) a prosperous manuf. city and port of entry of W. Virginia, C. of Ohio co., on the Ohio River (here cro ed by a wire suspension-bridge with a span of 1,010ft.), 92 m. S.W. of Pittsburgh. It is the terminus of the Cleveland and Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Ohio, and Hemp field railroads. Pop. 19,280. [s. 959]
