Coefficient of Expansion

Hawkins' Electrical Dictionary · 1915 · p. 3
—The ratio between the increase of volume which a substance undergoes when its temperature is raised by one degree C., and its original volume; thus, in the Centigrade scale the coefficient of expansion of air per degree is.003665= 4473; that is, the pre ure being constant, the volume of a perfect gas increases 4473 of its volume at 0° C. for every increase in temperature of 1° C. In Fahrenheit units it increases 1491.2 = -002036 of its volume at 32° F. for every increase of 1° F.
