Pressure Gauge

—A dial instrument for registering the pre ure of a fluid or liquid confined within a pipe or chamber. The usual pattern operates by the tendency of a bent oval tube to straighten itself under pre ure. Mercurial columns are used for accurate measurements or for testing mechanical gauges. Inverted syphons containing oil or water are used to measure air pre ures, such instruments being often known as prezometers.
