tri'-o-nal, C— Diethyl sulphone methyl methane. A disulphone belonging to the ethyl and methyl groups; in ordinary doses it is harmle and po e es marked hypnotic properties. It is a powder consisting of j shining tablets with a melting-point of 760 C, and •vhich di olve in 320 parts of water at ordinary tem; perature, readily in alcohol and ether, and have a distinctly bitter taste. It is administered in a finely powdered state, di olved in liberal quantities of soup, warm water, milk, or tea, or it may be administered by the rectum in the form of a waterv solution.
