[Latin vallar is = pertaining to a rampart; vallum = a rampart. So named because one species is used in Java for fences.] Botany: A genus of Parson see (q. v.). Twining Indian shrubs, with opposite leaves, dichotomous interpetiolar peduncles, salver-shaped corollas and follicular fruit. văl-lar-ỹ, adj. [Latin vallar is.] The same as VALLAR (q. v.).
