A Hebrew word, signifying the anointed, and translated into Greek by the word christos, whence Christ: a title which the Jews gave to their great deliverer, for whose coming they still wait; and a name which Christians apply to Jesus Christ, as the person in whom the prophecies relating to the Me iah were accomplished.
