Drupe

(droop.) [ Same der iv.) (Bot.) A succulent fruit, such as the cherry, plum, peach,apricot, and date. The hard endocarp, forming the stone, and containing a single seed or kernel, is surrounded by the mesocarp, which is usually pulpy, but in the almond is of a rough texture. The epi carp forms the skin of the fruit. Dru paceous is an epithet applied to plants bearing drupes. [s. 304]
