ablen, or ablet

[In Fr. ablen or ablette.] Names occasionally given to a small freshwater fish more commonly termed the bleak. It is the Cyprinus alburnus of Linnæus, and the Leuciscus alburnus of Cuvier. [BLEAK.] *a-blende, *a-blend'-ěn, v . t . (pret. ablente ). [A.S. a blend an = to blind.] To blind, to dazzle. Also ( fig .) deceived. [BLIND.] "He schal both a blende his enemies' sigt." MS.
