Scolia (skolia)

[NL. (Fabric i us, 1775), said to be nervure. It is a large cosmopolitan genus, containing species which have the normal burrowing habit of the digger-wasps, as well as some which are parasitic. Thus, S. flavifrons of Europe is parasitic within the body of the lamellicorn beetle Oryctes nas i corn is. Thirteen species are found in the United States and fourteen in Europe, while many are tropical.
