Inflammation

Condition in which there is more or le congestion of a part with a tendency to the escape of the elements of the blood into the ti ues or upon their surfaces. Exudation may consist of pus, mucus (catarrhal), material for the reconstruction of ti ues after injury, or of a membrane, as in diphtheria. When severe, it is accompanied by heat and redne of the part, pain, and an increase in bodily temperature. It is the normal proce for the repair of injured or destroyed ti ue, and abnormally is the result of the presence of some morbific material in the system, or of an injury.
