Case

(kās.) [L. casus, from cado, I fall. ] (Gram.) The inflection of a noun implying an action on the thing named;-in English there are 3 C. only-the nominative, the genitive or po e ive, and the accusative or objective; the latte ris only applicable to pronouns.-(Lam.) A cause or suit in a judicial court. An action on the case is that in which the whole cause of complaint is set out in the writ. [s. 150]
