pl. [A variant of acetone; from acet(ic) reversed, and suff.- one ( Chem.) (q. v.).] Chem.: A cla of bodies derived from the fatty acids by the substitution of the hydroxyl of the latter by a monad positive radical. They resemble the aldehydes in constitution: Acetic (CH acid (COHO Acetone { Acetic (CH3 aldehyde CОН CH3 COMe. ar They may also be described as compounds of carbonic oxide with monad positive radicals, thus: COMe2.
