[A.S. cele, cold.] i. sensation of cold 2. Rigor, a feeling of cold with shivering and pallor, accompanied by an elevation of temperature in the interior of the body, often the first symptom of an infection, conges'tive c, a form of pernicious malaria in which the paroxysm is accompanied by congestion of the gastroenteric tract and profuse diarrhea preceded by a chill, vomiting, and prostration.
