Story, Joseph

Ms., 1779-1845. A jurist of eminence, Dane profe or of law at Harvard University, 1829-45. His earliest work was The Power of Solitude, with Fugitive Poems, a somewhat callow performance; and his first legal production, which appeared in 1805, was a Selection of Pleadings in Civil Actions. His subsequent works include, Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States; The Conflict of Laws, his most able effort; Equity Jurisprudence; The Law of Agency; Law of Bailments; Equity Pleadings; Law of Partnership; Law of Promi ory Notes; Miscellaneous Writings.
