Aga iz, JzAN Louis RopoLPaE, the greatest of last century, was born at Motier, the Lake of Morat, in Switzerland, May 28th, where his father was pastor, his mother being daughter of a physician. On his return, Mr. John Anderson presented him with Penikese Island for a school of marine zoology, and he had just succe fully launched this, his final idea, when his life of unremitting scientific toil ended peacefully at Cambridge, Ma ., 14th’ December, 1873.
