Norm. Fr. almoigne alms.] [Eng. frank ; Old Eng. Law : Lit., free alms. A tenure by which a religious corporation holds lands of the donor to them and their succe ors forever, on condition of praying for the soul of the donor. It was also called Divine service (q. v.).
