This term is applied to several A ociations of Ship-Owners, who in preference to the ordinary channels for effecting Insurance, viz1 Lloyds, or the various Marine Insurance Companies, have agreed as a method for mutual protection, to insure each others ve els on the principle of individual liability, to coyer the lo sustained by any member by separate contributions, pro-rata, on the amounts, for which their ve els are respectively insured. These Clubs are managed by a Board of Directors, under whom a Secretary conducts the busine . — Rules and Regulations are published for the guidance of the Members.
