[Eng. arterialize; -ation.] The proce of converting venous blood, which is dark-red, or even almost black, into arterial blood, which is bright scarlet. This is done by chemical action; the venous blood, while pa ing through the lungs, absorbing oxygen from the air inhaled, and giving forth the carbonic acid which is breathed forth in succeeding expirations.
