patch

A spot or blotch, more or le distinct from the surrounding parts of a surface in appearance or character. moth p. See chloasma, mucous p. Syn.: moist papule, mucous tubercle. A variety of syphilitic eruption having a moist, eroded surface, occurring most commonly on the mucous membrane of the mouth or external genitals, but also on the skin in situations where the surface is habitually subject to heat and moisture. It "Consists of a papule or tubercle over which the epithelium appears macerated, moist, of a whitish, grayish, or reddish color, and more or le eroded. See condyloma lat a, under condyloma.
