Canker

(kāng'kěr.) [From L. cancer, a crab.] (Med.) Cancrum or is, or Cancer aquatic us, a form of aphthous ulceration of the mucous membrane of the mouth. It is not uncommon in children's asylums, is the result of unwholesome or insufficient food, and is rather the symptom or the consequence of disease than a disease itself.
