YOUNG STOWN

a city of Ohio, in Mahoning Co., of which it is the county seat. It is on the Baltimore and Ohio, the Erie, the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern, the Pennsylvania, and other railroads, and on the Mahoning River. It is an important industrial city. It has manufactures of steel furniture, structural steel, asbestos, cement, engines, stoves, automobile trucks, flour, leather, wagons and rubber. There are in the city over 50 blast furnaces, producing over 7,000,000. tons of Be emer steel and over 4,000,000 tons of open hearth steel. Young stown is one of the largest steel manufacturing cities in the United States. It has an excellent park system and its notable buildings include the Mahoning Institute of Art, a court house, public library and many nen public buildings. Pop. (1920)
