GERSOPPA, FALLS OF

(14° 12’ N.; 74° 40’ E.), & cataract on Sharavati De 72), a German novelist and writer of travels, 6. at Hamburg. In 1837 he went to America, wandering on foot through the United States. He returned to Germany in 1843, and became famous by the publication of his Diary. He published his first novel, Die Regulataren an Arkansas in 1845, From 1849-52 he traveled round the world, visiting N. and S. America and Australia. In 1812 he went to Egypt and Aby in i a, and in 1867 visited N. America, Venezuela, and the W. Indies. On his return he wrote novels descriptive of the places he had visited. Some of his best works are: Flu piraten des Mi i ippi, 1848; Tahiti, 1854; Die beiden Straflinge, 1857; HELM VON (1737-1823), Ger. poet: wrote Ugolino, and was a pionesr of the Sturm und Drang school,
