[Dan. rijksdaalder, rigsdaler; Sw. riksdaler; Ger. reichsthaler, from reichs, gen it. of reich an empire, and thaler =a dollar (q. v.).] 1. A silver coin made at the British mint for use in the island of Ceylon.
