Monongahela

One of the head branches of the Ohio. Monopneumona ( Ceratodus forsteri ). and the palate and lower jaws molar-like plates. The fins have rays on both sides of the jointed shaft. There are four gills and five arches; the hyoidean arch bears a pseudo branch. Ureters open by a common duct into the cloaca. There is a pair of abdominal pores. The conus arteriosus has valves in it, as in the Ganoids. These fishes grow as long as six feet. The flesh is salmon-like and esteemed as food.
